The opportunity:
EY Private Tax is a growing practice serving privately held companies, from family-owned to private equity-owned, spanning growth phases from start-up to multi-billion-dollar global private companies. The role offers exposure to technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and opportunities to progress to senior manager.
- Support senior managers through partners in providing tax services, balancing time between compliance and planning, and interacting directly with clients.
- Heavy focus on corporate returns as well as provision work, with opportunities to work on flow-through entities (partnerships).
- Develop into a trusted advisor and role model across teams to build a diverse network of colleagues.
- Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, foreign affiliate reporting).
- Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
- Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners.
- Liaise with other service lines and subject matter professionals.
- Build effective long-term relationships with clients and tailor services to their needs.
- Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain professional reputation by updating and sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Manage, coach and develop a team of tax professionals, reviewing work and ensuring they have tools and opportunities to excel.
- Identify and respond to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with tax, business or financial planning experience.
- CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
- Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.
- Excellent collaboration, negotiation skills, and ability to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
- Commitment to ongoing learning.
- Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA or Lexis Nexis.
- Willingness to travel and to work in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

What We Offer You- Competitive compensation and benefits package. Base salary ranges: $106,500–$195,100 (US); $127,700–$221,700 for NYC Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento). Salaries determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. Total Rewards includes medical and dental, pension and 401(k), and various paid time off.
