Job OverviewThe Private Wealth Strategist, part of Merrill’s Strategic Wealth Advisory Group, works with ultra‑high net worth (UHNW) individuals and families to provide objective insights aimed at aligning financial and estate strategies with their goals. This highly visible position works closely with Merrill advisors and PWM management, partners with advisors in client solicitation efforts, and develops wealth‑transfer strategies and planning recommendations. The role may also author whitepapers and other content for the UHNW client segment and assist with the retention of UHNW relationships.
CoreResponsibilities
- Develop wealth‑transfer strategies for UHNW individuals and families (net worth $50 million or more) to enhance client relationships and acquire new clients (no client acquisition goals).
- Design, create, and deliver presentation pieces for client meetings and national events.
- Partner with advisors or relationship managers to generate wealth‑management strategies for UHNW clients and prospects.
- Develop recommendations and assist advisors or relationship managers in implementing customized planning strategies for UHNW families, focusing on inter‑generational wealth transfer, estate planning, diversification of concentrated positions, philanthropy, private business succession, global asset allocation, risk management, and retirement planning.
- Author whitepapers, articles, and other material on topics impacting the UHNW client segment or provide direct service to clients.

- Seven years of private law firm practice or similar experience in transfer taxation or trusts and estates with a focus on planning for UHNW families and individuals.
- Strong tax, legal research, and writing skills.
- Series 7 & 66 licenses or the ability to obtain them within 120 days.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Brentmark Estate Planning Tools (aka Number Cruncher).
Law degree required.
