Job Purpose & Scope

Reviews specific data points supporting Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Credit Underwriting to analyze and assure a quality risk rating is obtained. Supports the rating review process for all CIB lending verticals. Reviews will include newly generated loans, modifications, and annual reviews.

Essential Job Functions
  • Reviews defined data points and ensures accuracy on both “As Approved” and “As Closed” risk ratings assigned daily.
  • Reviews financial statements, underwriter workbooks, credit memos, appraisals, and any other information used to make a credit decision as it relates to ensuring the integrity of CIB’s underwriting guidelines and principles.
  • Communicates effectively with individual underwriters on the status/needed updates of pending risk rating reviews.
  • Manages assigned risk rating reviews, ensuring they are handled efficiently and processed in a timely manner, consistent with the Bank’s standards.
  • Communicates with underwriters and management regarding issues or challenges concerning risk rating reviews, when merited.
  • Responsible for data quality during the loan review and determining the “As Approved” and “As Closed” credit risk ratings.
  • Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.
  • Follows Bank policy, procedures and guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of general financial principles.
  • Ability and desire to learn bank regulations related to the Office of Foreign Asset Control, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and the USA PATRIOT Act.
  • Ability to work without close.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with exacting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent and effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and demonstrate flexibility in a continually changing environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or job related field, or commensurate work experience, required.
  • Prior work experience (to include internships) within banking, finance, and/or accounting, preferred.
