Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas on a part time (24 hours per week) basis. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a company at the forefront of renewable energy solutions, including biogas, carbon capture, and green energy transitions.

Responsibilities:

- Establish and oversee financial infrastructure, including banking relationships, treasury management, and tax registrations.

- Manage daily financial processes, ensuring timely and accurate bookkeeping, payment processing, and record maintenance.

- Perform reconciliations for profit and loss accounts and balance sheets, identifying discrepancies and ensuring accuracy.

- Execute monthly and quarterly closing procedures to maintain financial integrity.

- Prepare and submit federal, state, and local tax filings, including sales tax and informational returns.

- Ensure compliance with US financial regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.

- Monitor and review accounting operations to align with organizational goals and frameworks.

- Provide support for audits and collaborate with external parties to ensure financial transparency.

- Analyze financial data and generate reports to assist in strategic decision-making.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance roles.

- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics/Navision or similar systems.

- Strong analytical skills with a structured and detail-oriented approach.

- Ability to work independently and take initiative in managing responsibilities.

- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and financial regulations.

- Experience with month-end close processes, reconciliations, and tax compliance.

- Excellent organizational skills to deliver accurate and timely financial reports.
