A Day In The Life
The Manager, Accounting - Family Office, under the leadership of the Director of Family Office Accounting, will manage the operations of the family businesses through full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing card activity, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. The Accounting Manager will ensure books and records are maintained in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, company policies, and industry practices.
The Manager will assign work activities to others and serve as a subject-matter expert for team members and the organization to ensure timely, accurate accounting practices. The Manager will take action to enhance cross-functional coordination across the Family Office, ensure proper internal controls are maintained, lead process improvement, assist with system implementations, and lead issuance of financials.
As a Mgr,Accounting-Family Off you will:
* Maintain and adhere to accounting principles, practices, and procedures in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, company policies, and industry practices.
* Develop, review, and ensure distribution of standard financial reports to management, including consolidation of financials, variance analysis, and executive-level financial presentations as needed.
* Ensure timely execution of monthly close procedures, including accurate and timely completion of balance sheet account reconciliations and resolution of any reconciling items.
* Assist with reviewing and/or recording all financial transactions, including cash/centralized payor, accounts receivable, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable, accruals, debt, intercompany transactions, equity accounting method, financial consolidation, elimination, entries, etc.
* Ensure that all financial data is recorded accurately and timely within management expectations and company policy. Maintain well-documented work papers for journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.
* Create complex financial statement schedules using advanced technical knowledge and technical research, including white papers as needed.
* Serve as subject matter expert for the general ledger and financial control processes. Demonstrate a complete understanding of the chart of accounts, complex company hierarchy, and financial statement structure.
* Lead internal and/or external audits as needed, including reviewing and/or preparing audit schedules, audited financials, and footnotes.
* Provide support as needed to the Tax team, including reviewing and/or preparing tax schedules and tax forms.
* Assist with gathering of AP data and processing 1099s annually.
* Develop advanced knowledge of systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Acct System), Dooap (AP), and Concur (Expense Reporting), Spreadsheet Server (Reporting), Power BI (Reporting), as well as Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
* Lead and/or assist with system implementations and/or projects.
* Generate process improvement ideas and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures in terms of quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
* Ensure documentation of standard operating procedures for key accounting processes is maintained and updated periodically.
* Lead, motivate, reward, and develop team members.
* Exhibit an elevated level of customer service behaviors with both internal and external customers, providing exceptional support and responding to requests accurately and with a sense of urgency.
* Serve as the point person for inquiries from the family.
* Develop and execute action plans/project plans to address open tasks, requests, or projects in a timely manner.
