Role Description
The Portfolio Manager is responsible for preparing and analyzing customers’ credit request memos based on the company’s credit policies and criteria. The PM will also be responsible for reviewing lease funding requests, presenting credit requests to the Credit Committee, and assisting the Risk Manager with the preparation of materials for the monthly Credit Review meetings.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Underwrite, in partnership with the Risk Manager and Relationship team, the creditworthiness of prospective and existing Lessee, via:
- Spreading and Financial statement analysis,
- Guarantor analysis,
- Collateral analysis,
- Industry analysis,
- Other analysis that may be required.
- Prepare high quality, thorough, and detailed credit underwriting documents, in accordance with the company’s credit policy, which contain thoughtful analysis of key risks and their mitigants.
- Present credit requests to the Credit Committee and be able to clearly and concisely express and defend your opinion.
- Work proactively, in a constructive, diplomatic manner, with both internal and external contacts to keep transactions moving, always acting with a sense of urgency to meet both internal and client deadlines.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate data in the company’s lease software for each customer.
- Review new lease requests for accuracy against approved structure and limits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or business-related discipline.
- 2+ years of credit underwriting experience with a focus on lower middle market lending or equipment leasing preferred.
- Completion of formal credit training program preferred.
- Completion of intermediate accounting, or equivalent, preferred (roughly 12 accounting hours).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, time management, and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requests and workflows contemporaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
The role is a full-time position for the Houston office. The role is in-person with no hybrid capacity currently.
