Overview
Workforce Solutions is the public workforce system for the Houston‑Galveston region. Our mission is simple: help people get a job, keep a job, and build a career. The Financial Aid Payment Office plays a vital role in managing vendor payments, gift card distribution, and inventory control. The Treasury Specialist is responsible for ensuring smooth financial processes and compliance, processing payments to childcare and non‑childcare vendors, managing gift and debit card distribution while maintaining accurate inventory records, preparing bank and inventory reconciliations, collecting and reporting recoupment payments, and ensuring timely and accurate payments to Workforce Solutions vendors.
Responsibilities- Manages timely distribution of cash substitute/Global Cash Card inventory with a 99% annual accuracy rating.
- Creates payment batches with a 99% annual accuracy rating.
- Assists with the development of processes.
- Processes Workforce Solutions vendor’s ACH applications.
- Makes child care and non‑child care and other special projects payment.
- Processes stop payment and issues manual checks, using multiple payment databases.
- Resolves check batch issues.
- Processes recoupment payments.
- Processes IRS and TWC levies.
- Manages and distributes cash substitute/Global Cash Card inventory.
- Prepares documents for internal and external monitoring.
- Performs other creating duties as may be assigned.
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Years of experience:
Twelve (12) months working in a Treasury department, plus five years experience in accounts payable and cash and inventory management.
Computer/Systems/Software proficiency:
Microsoft Office, Adobe sends and MIP is a plus.
Language:
English (written & verbal) required; bilingual is a plus.
