Job Summary

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for: (1) the collection, review, analysis, entry, maintenance and reporting of data into the Trauma Registry on all declared trauma patients and/or patients admitted following a traumatic injury; and (2) the management of Trauma Registry Database reporting elements as required by regulatory organizations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees:
    One (1) year or greater college level or technical school training.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Certificate: AIS and ICD-10 Coding
    • Basic Life Support:
      Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
    • Cert Specialist‑Trauma Regis:
      Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) or Certid Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) certification within 4 years of hire.
  • Work Experience:

    Two (2) years in the medical related field and Two (2) years of progressively responsible Trauma Registry experience a plus.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact), Writing / Composing:
    Correspondence, Reports.
  • Proficiencies: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Typing, PC.
  • Job Attributes:
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    Analytical, Medical Terms, Mathematics, Research, Statistical, Transcription.
  • Advanced

    Education:

    Advance Training Specialty:
    Preferred AIS and ICD-10 Coding.
  • Work Schedule:

    Flexible, Overtime, Travel.
  • Other Requirements:
    Ability to read and interpret medical records and lab reports; accuracy and thoroughness; and ability to work independently. Trauma Registry software (preferably Trauma based) and other software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Equipment Operated:
    Computer in Windows environment.
