Job SummaryThe Memorial Hermann | Rockets Sports Medicine Institute (RSMI) provides athletes of all ages and skill levels the services they need to reach their personal athletic goals. Memorial Hermann Sports Parks are multifaceted sports medicine facilities bringing health, wellness, and human performance together in Houston. The first Sports Park opened in 2019 on Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital campus and a second in Pearland on Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital campus, with a third to open in 2024.
These facilities are a unique collaboration among Memorial Hermann, affiliated physicians, and Athlete Training and Health (ATH) to advance community health and active lifestyles.
Full‑time positions available throughout the Houston area and surrounding communities.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university‑based program.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support.
- Physical therapist practicing direct access:
- Doctoral degree and residency or fellowship, OR licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis.
- Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.
- Experience / Knowledge /
Skills:- Occasional/frequent pushing and lifting 75–100 pounds, carrying up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping, squatting.
- Fine hand dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment; recognize alphanumeric characters; distinguish colors; observe physical characteristics.
- Assumes responsibility for patient care; performs complete evaluation, interprets findings, writes plan of care, sets goals, and develops comprehensive program.
- Implements physical therapy program, provides basic treatments, demonstrates competency, and oversees assistants and technicians.
- Assesses patients regularly to monitor progress, adjusts goals, plan or program as indicated.
- MOTIVATES and instructs patient/caregiver using appropriate methods.
- Communicates effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and insurance companies.
- Presents relevant topics at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings, and meetings as delegated or requested.
- Manages time effectively.
- Documents accurately and efficiently in the medical record; completes other documentation duties.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
- Promotes professional growth by meeting mandatory/continuing education and skill competency requirements; supports department goals and organization success; other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate, personalized experiences; models Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
