Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Women’s Specialty Unit & Antepartum Nurse — someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment. In this role, you'll provide high-quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care, incorporating family-centered principles and cost-effective practices. Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in nursing or an equivalent degree with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
- Current licensure with the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- One (1) year of professional nursing experience
- Knowledge of the nursing process, critical thinking skills, PALS, ACLS, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Positive interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities
- Strong time and resource management skills, flexibility, and adaptability
- Ability to operate unit-specific equipment
- For Labor & Delivery or OB Assessment & Triage (WAC), 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred
- For OB ICU, experience in adult ICU is preferred
- For OB Float Pool, experience in MBU, OB Triage, Labor & Delivery, and high-risk women's services is preferred
All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing to ensure workplace safety.
Responsibilities- Assess patients with input from patients and families
- Involve patients and families in care planning
- Provide high-quality, cost-effective care in collaboration with patients and families
- Evaluate and update care plans regularly
- Educate patients and families about care and health management
- Demonstrate team commitment, flexibility, professional communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills
- Manage time and resources effectively
- Maintain professional development and contribute to team growth
- Participate in achieving hospital and unit goals
- Work with a diverse patient population, including high-risk obstetric patients, antepartum and postpartum care, gynecological post-surgical patients, fetal interventions, fetal demise cases, and long-term antepartum patients with pregnancy complications.
Note:
this unit does not handle labor patients.
