Respiratory Therapist – Job Description

Shift

Hours:

36 hours per week. Evening/Night 6:30pm – 7:00am with rotating weekends and holidays.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides quality respiratory care to patients according to established procedures.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Provides respiratory care modalities to patients as ordered by physicians or approved protocols.

· Develops, implements and revises patient care plans.

· Ensures prepackaged medications are labeled with patient information and has the correct drug, dosage, and dosage form.

· Discusses orders for respiratory care with providers, nurses, supervisors, and care teams.

· Verifies and accurately documents pertinent patient care data including assessment, procedures and patient education in medal record.

· Assembles, prepares, cleans, and operates respiratory care equipment per established clinical and infection control practices.

· Documents patient safety issues in safety intelligence.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Complies with all policies and standards.

Education Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an approved and accredited program or university.

Licenses/Certifications

Required:

All of the following:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Basic Life Support (BLS) by AHA Advanced Life Support (ACLS) by AHA Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) to practice Respiratory Care.
