Volunteer - Hospice

Join Doctor's Choice Home Care & Hospice Texas as a hospice volunteer. Provide comfort and emotional support to patients with a life‑limiting illness, assist with daily tasks, and collaborate with the care team in a quiet, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Comfort patients and families during end‑of‑life care.
• Listen to patients’ needs and provide active, compassionate listening.
• Assist with daily patient tasks such as feeding, mobility, and personal hygiene.
• Document patient care and observations in the care plan.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities

• Be at least 18 years of age or older.
• No significant personal loss in the past year.
• Valid state driver’s license for direct patient care.
• Complete a tuberculosis test.
• Must provide proof of COVID‑19 vaccination or qualify for an exemption if unvaccinated.
• Must be personable, demonstrating kindness, care, and the ability to listen to patients and families.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Quiet, caring environment with potential stress due to patient needs.
• Visual acuity and dexterity required.
• Ability to sit, stand, and move patients while pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
