Research Assistant I (Night Shift) - Center for Translational Injury Research
Join UTHealth Houston as a Research Assistant I (Night Shift) in the Center for Translational Injury Research (CeTIR). CeTIR leads research and development of next‑generation medical technologies for trauma patients.
The typical schedule is a 12‑hour shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, including weekends and holidays.

Position Summary: Under close direction of senior research staff, conduct activities to support research projects focused on trauma‑related blood samples and laboratory work.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct research activities according to protocol: recruiting, screening, laboratory experiments, informatics, field interviews, animal studies.
- Maintain clean laboratory equipment and workspace.
- Collect, evaluate, interpret data; update notebooks, records, and databases.
- Stay abreast of new and updated protocols.
- Order laboratory supplies as directed.
- Coordinate work of laboratory technicians and assistants as needed.
- Comply with all governmental and university policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Certification /
Skills:
General knowledge of research fields.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experience: No years of experience required.
Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 lb occasionally and/or 10 lb constantly.
Security Sensitive: Position requires compliance with Texas Education Code and relevant state laws. Employees must permanently reside and work in Texas.
