Assistant Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technology
The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an open Assistant Coordinator, Ophthalmic Technology position. The person assuming this role will provide clinical support to our optometrists, ophthalmologists and specialty contact and device fitters. This position provides customer service to optometry patients including explanation of costs and obtaining of insurance authorizations for services.
This position is located at our McNair Campus.
- Patient workups including history, medication reconciliation.
- Performs wavefront aberrations.
- Performs corneal topography/tomography.
- Performs optical biometry.
- Conducts corneal pachymetry.
- Manifests refractions and/or auto refraction.
- Performs Tonometry.
- Inserts and removes contact lenses or optical devices.
- Answers phone messages and patient questions.
- Prepares and maintains patient rooms in clinic.
- Schedules patient appointments and prepares patient charts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- No experience required.
- One year of experience in optometry or ophthalmology clinical practice.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
