Monitor Tech

Overview

Monitor Technology position at MD Anderson Cancer Center, part of the Telemetry/Thoracic/Cardiovascular Unit, a 32‑bed surgical telemetry unit caring for postoperative patients who may develop arrhythmias.

3 x 12 hour shifts: 7 pm to 7 am, including rotating weekends and holidays.

• Continuously observe patients and identify changes in cardiac rate or rhythm.
• Maintain accurate documentation of EKG/cardiac rhythm, non‑invasive blood pressure, and pulse oximetry readings in telemetry logs.
• Promptly report changes in cardiac rhythm to nursing staff.
• Document all admissions, discharges, and transfers with associated telemetry logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Required education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Preferred education: Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia course.
• Required experience: 1 year of prior experience in EKG/cardiac monitoring.
• Required certification: BLS – Basic Life Support upon hire.
