Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician – Pay Range: $18.75/hr – $24.50/hr
In accordance with state and federal regulations, this role assists the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and performs other Pharmacy Department duties following company policies and procedures.
Primary responsibilities include using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, coach pharmacy technicians in pharmacy systems when PTCB certified, and deliver a distinctive customer experience.
Job Responsibilities / Tasks- Engage with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Model and share best customer service practices, such as greetings, courtesy, and proactive help.
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision, enter patient and drug information correctly, fill prescriptions, verify medicine, check for interactions, and manage workflow.
- Report prescription errors immediately and follow company policies on pharmacy errors.
- Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies.
- Register sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers to OTC aisle.
- Handle telephone calls not requiring pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
- Process manual claims for third‑party prescriptions promptly.
- Assist with inventory management: ordering, packing, checking, storing, and filing claims for overages, shortages, or damages.
- Assist in clinical services such as blood/urine sample collection and labeling.
- Support Pharmacy Manager in building relationships with local medical providers and community groups.
- Maintain a clean and stocked Pharmacy Department.
- Maintain respectful coworker relationships and complete special assignments.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification via designated training or state requirements.
- Attend training, complete PPLs, and obtain continuing education credits.
- Stay knowledgeable about healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in specified locations).
- Prior experience with Walgreens.
- Strong math skills (counting, measuring, weighing medications).
- Basic PC skills (using mouse, startup/shutdown, printing, online access).
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
