JOBSUMMARY
The CT/XR Registered Technologist is a full‑time Technologist and will be responsible for obtaining high quality radiographic images. This role requires competent operation of radiation producing equipment such as portable rad units, XR, to create diagnostic images. You will need a valid Radiologic Technologist license, CT and XR certification to apply for this Radiology Tech position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- The technologist must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are relaxed and at ease during the exam and provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to establish inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends. Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., contrast media and medications) or potential outcomes, as appropriate.
- Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.
- Performs visual preventative maintenance checks of all assigned equipment at the beginning and end of each shift. Records and reports maintenance requirements to appropriate staff.
- Helps maintain an effective Performance Improvement, Q/A & Q/C program in compliance with Joint Commission, Texas DSHS, IAC and/or ACR.
- Reviews exposed radiographs ensuring proper positioning, techniques and identification are obtained per protocol. Documents all exams/procedures in logbooks and enters charges in patient’s EMR.
- Able to perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Able to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
- Able to provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost‑efficient manner in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
- Able to perform tasks exclusively without need for routine oversight.
- Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Radiology Tech in a hospital/OR setting.
- Current registration with A.R.R.T. is required.
- CT certification.
- Current license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required.
- Current certification with the Texas Department of Health (CMRT) is required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s Preferred.
- Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
