The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The Harris Center") is looking for a Pharmacist (Relief) to provide administrative, consultative, and dispensing services in a hybrid inpatient/outpatient pharmacy setting. The role includes clinical pharmacy services, pharmaceutical care, medication processing, dispensing to individuals of all ages with mental disabilities, participation in hospital committees, and availability 24/7 as a PIC designee.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care to The Harris Center clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies.
- Dispense medications to patients with mental disabilities in accordance with physician orders, pharmacy practices, and The Harris Center guidelines.
- Integrate with hospital committees, goals, and programs to ensure cohesive operations.
- Offer inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, including medication orders and prescriptions.
- Work weekends and holidays and report to maintain pharmacy operations during emergencies.
- Be available 24/7 by phone or cell for PIC designee duties.
- Contact administrative staff, physicians, nurses, patients, and other professionals to maintain relationships.
- Supervise pharmacists and support staff, ensuring accurate preparation, dispensing, and compliance with state/federal laws and The Harris Center policies.
- Maintain department operations controls and anticipate needs to ensure effectiveness.
- Support inventory control, cost management, and financial reporting.
- Enter drug orders into the pharmacy computer system and dispense medications timely.
- Attend staff meetings, review minutes, and support PAP processes and policies.
- Assist with automated dispensing system (PYXIS) and MAR systems.
- Provide therapeutic and drug information to patients and professionals.
- Support patient satisfaction initiatives and participate in medication error review and quality measures.
- Monitor adverse drug reactions and clinical decision support systems.
- Establish open lines of communication and maintain customer‑service attitude.
- Two years of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Experience in retail pharmacy is a plus.
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of Texas.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or equivalent.
