Certified Surgical Technologist - Part Time
The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a certified surgical technologist to provide services in the Large Animal Core, a satellite of the Center for Comparative Medicine. This position will be on an as‑needed basis to assist the principal investigator with large animal surgeries. Position is part time and will work a flexible schedule of 2 hours per week.
Job Duties- Prepare and organize the operating suite equipment, instruments, and supplies for cardiovascular procedures such as LVAD, pacemakers, heart catheterization, and artificial heart implantation.
- Set up and maintain a sterile and sanitary environment in compliance with established professional protocols and follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Inspect, replace, and sterilize medical instruments as needed.
- Provide surgeons and veterinarians with needed assistance during procedures using proper body mechanics as accepted by the standard of care.
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a Surgical Technologist Program.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Must obtain Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) within 6 months of hire.
- Specialized knowledge of cardiovascular procedures.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
