Job SummaryThe ARRT CT/C-ARM Registered Technologist is a full‑time technologist and will be responsible for obtaining high quality radiographic images while practicing ALARA principles. This role requires competent operation of radiation producing equipment such as portable rad units, C‑Arms, Computed Axial Tomography, R/F units to create diagnostic images. This position is predominantly assigned to the Operating Room working collaboratively with the Surgical Services team, surgeons and their staff to ensure outstanding patient outcomes.
DutiesAnd Responsibilities
- Communicate the procedure to the patient, ensuring they are relaxed and at ease during the exam while providing patient care during imaging.
- Prepare the patient for radiological procedure by positioning, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment, and setting exposure factors.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Identify opportunities for corrective action and process improvement; report near misses and input errors into the hospital patient safety reporting system.
- Utilize critical thinking to observe and proactively address patient reactions (e.g., contrast media, medications).
- Ensure all imaging equipment has quality control performed and is in safe working order; report malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance.
- Record and report maintenance requirements to appropriate staff.
- Participate in Performance Improvement, QA & QC programs in compliance with Joint Commission, Texas DSHS, IAC and/or ACR.
- Review exposed radiographs for proper positioning, techniques, and identification per protocol; document exams in logbooks and enter charges in the patient’s EMR.
- Perform high quality radiology procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Explain the procedure and put patients at ease.
- Provide services in a timely, accurate, and cost‑efficient manner in compliance with established system and regulatory standards.
- Operate tasks independently without need for routine oversight.
- Maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress and resolve issues appropriately.
- Minimum 2+ years of work experience as a Radiology Tech specializing in C‑arm, CT, MRI fluoroscopy (excluding clinical rotations or orientation).
- Computed Axial Tomography Technologist must possess an ARRT CT registration.
- Previous OR and C‑ARM experience.
- Current registration with ARRT is required.
- Current license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT) is required.
- Current certification with the Texas Department of Health (CMRT) is required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below.
- Current registration with ARRT is required.
- Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT) is required.
- Current certification with the Texas Department of Health (CMRT) is required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing assessments and evaluations.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary for essential functions of this job.
- Effectively communicates with patients, physicians, family members and co‑workers, employing customer‑service focus and positive language.
- Works independently and handles challenging diagnostic procedures; demonstrates sound judgment and exhibits above‑average clinical skills.
- Possesses basic computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems including Hospital/Radiology Information Systems and Office software.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with all levels of the healthcare team, ensuring excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers.
- Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, organizing workflow and actively participating in problem‑solving.
- Job Type: Full‑time (Sign‑On $5k or PRN No Sign‑On).
