Summary

The Ira lab is seeking a Research Technician II to oversee general lab ordering, organization, and perform experiments related to the lab’s exploration of DNA recombination processes. This position has been vacant since the departure of our previous research technician and a replacement is needed as soon as possible to complete the aims of the grant.
The research goal of the lab is to understand the molecular mechanisms of homologous recombination and the role different proteins play during recombination. More specifically they are focusing on the function of DNA helicases and newly identified in genetic screen proteins in DNA repair. The main experimental model is recombination induced by a single double-strand‑break. This assay allows us to follow the kinetics of all steps in recombination at the level of DNA strand exchange and protein‑DNA interaction.

The results from the projects will constitute the foundation for studying DNA recombination in human cells and will provide insight into the molecular basis of genetic instability observed in cancer. This is a part‑time position that offers flexible scheduling from Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for 16 hours per week.

Job Duties
