The Sheraton Houston Airport is currently hiring a Bell Captain. The bell captain supervises and manages bell staff, handling duties like creating schedules, training new hires, and ensuring guests receive prompt luggage and transportation assistance. They are responsible for maintaining a professional and welcoming environment in the lobby, ensuring the security of the baggage room, and coordinating with other departments like the front office and concierge.
The role requires strong leadership, customer service, communication, and physical stamina for tasks like lifting luggage and being on their feet for long periods.
- Staff management: Supervise, schedule, train, and guide bell staff to ensure they provide high-quality service. Conduct pre-shift briefings and monitor performance.
- Guest assistance: Oversee the transport of guest luggage, help with special requests, and assist with taxis and directions.
- Department coordination: Collaborate with other hotel departments, including the front office, concierge, and valet, to ensure seamless guest experiences, especially for group arrivals and departures.
- Lobby and bell desk maintenance: Ensure the lobby, bell desk, and luggage storage areas are clean, organized, and ready for use at all times.
- Administrative duties: Maintain accurate records of guest luggage and deliveries. Use basic computer programs for tasks like scheduling.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for managing staff and interacting with guests.
- The job requires the ability to be on your feet for extended periods and lift and handle heavy luggage.
- Extensive experience in customer service and a professional, friendly, and welcoming demeanor are crucial for creating a positive guest experience.
- Previous experience as a bellhop is a common and beneficial background for this role.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Basic proficiency with programs like Microsoft Word and Excel is often needed.
Compensation: $18 - $20 hourly
