Primary Services is excited to announce the role of Payroll Specialist for a large, established organization. As a Payroll Specialist
, you will manage payroll processes for a complex and unionized workforce, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while supporting internal stakeholders. This position provides the opportunity to leverage your expertise in payroll systems, labor laws, and HR policies within a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Resolve employee payroll issues promptly and accurately.
- Prepare advance payments and off-cycle payroll runs as authorized.
- Serve as backup for payroll reconciliations, including payroll banking files and remittances.
- Participate in periodic reviews and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Represent payroll on special projects, providing analytical support as required.
- Implement functional payroll changes in coordination with relevant stakeholders and test changes for accuracy.
- Ensure wage tax and social security contributions are remitted and reported on time.
- Respond to complex payroll and time inquiries via case management systems using knowledge of payroll configuration and policies.
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience in a large, complex, unionized environment.
- Solid working knowledge of federal/state employment legislation, labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR policies.
- Functional experience with SAP HR/Payroll, CATS (Cross Application Time Sheet), Workday HR, and intermediate MS Office proficiency.
- Strong understanding and execution of internal controls and payroll compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and competing deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with data privacy legislation.
- Proven analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience interacting with federal, state, and local tax authorities and auditors.
