As the site continues to expand, they need a hands-on HR professional who can own core programs today and build the foundation for tomorrow’s success.
TheOpportunity
Reporting to the regional HR leader, the HR Specialist will be the sole HR presence for roughly 30 manufacturing employees. You will administer payroll and benefits, guide employee relations, champion engagement initiatives, and ensure rock-solid compliance. The role offers a clear runway to grow into an HR Manager position as headcount increases.
Key Responsibilities- Provide full-cycle HR support – recruiting, onboarding, compensation changes, and off-boarding – for the Houston facility
- Administer weekly payroll and maintain time-keeping accuracy in a modern HRIS (Dayforce, Paycom, Paylocity, or similar)
- Lead annual open-enrollment and day-to-day benefits administration while serving as the primary employee contact
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations; update policies and handbook as needed
- Advise supervisors on employee relations, performance coaching, and investigations, ensuring a fair and consistent process
- Design monthly culture and recognition events that boost engagement and retention
- Build and analyze HR dashboards covering headcount, turnover, and workforce demographics to inform leadership decisions
- Coordinate orientation, safety, and mandated training, tracking completions and certifications
- Serve as site expert for workers compensation, FMLA, and 401(k), keeping meticulous records
- Drive continuous-improvement projects to streamline HR processes and elevate employee experience
- 3+ years progressive HR generalist or specialist experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment
- Solid knowledge of U.S. and Texas employment law and HR best practices
- Proficient in cloud-based HRIS / payroll platforms; able to create and interpret reports
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; SHRM-CP / PHR certification a plus
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and confidentiality skills
- Self-starter who thrives in a hands-on role and adapts quickly to shifting priorities
