Title
Junior Cloud Dev Ops Engineer
Position OverviewK is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cloud Dev Ops Engineer to join our team in delivering innovative and mission-critical cloud solutions to our customers. As part of a global leader in science, technology, and engineering solutions, you will play a key role in rapidly migrating physical/on-premises infrastructure to AWS using a “lift and shift” approach. After initial migration, you will collaborate with experienced engineers to modernize and optimize cloud workloads.
All projects will be completed using Agile methodology, ensuring iterative delivery, continuous improvement, and close collaboration with stakeholders.
- Support the rapid migration (lift and shift) of physical and on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud environments.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for provisioning, monitoring, auditing, and de‑provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure using automation tools.
- Work closely with solution architects and engineers to implement secure, scalable, and cost‑effective AWS cloud solutions.
- Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry‑standard tools like Git Lab Runners or similar.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation, or AWS CDK.
- Support the configuration and automation of AWS environments using tools like Ansible.
- Troubleshoot and provide support for cloud‑based applications in a collaborative, cross‑functional team environment.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Identify and implement AWS cloud cost optimization strategies, incorporating Fin Ops principles where applicable.
- Participate in ongoing modernization efforts, refactoring and enhancing cloud workloads to leverage AWS‑native services and best practices.
- Collaborate within Agile teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives, and deliver incremental value through iterative development.
- Must have three years of continuous residency in the U.S. (required for government security credential).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
- Associate‑level certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate).
- Terraform Associate certification required.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in cloud engineering, Dev Ops, or related fields, with a focus on AWS technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with Dev Ops practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automation.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and best practices for AWS.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or AWS Cloud Formation.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, Power Shell, or similar for automation.
- Demonstrated Fin Ops ability to reduce cloud spend through cost optimization strategies and practical implementation.
- Experience implementing cost‑effective, Fin Ops‑aligned AWS cloud solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high‑quality results under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to technical teams.
- Strong technical documentation skills for designing and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Professional or Specialty certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices is a plus.
