AI Infrastructure Engineer

Burtch Works, Houston, Texas – Hybrid (Monday‑Thursday onsite, Friday remote).

Base pay range: $150,000 – $150,000 per year.

Newly established single‑family office headquartered in Houston, Texas, focused on “superior alpha generation” with a long‑term investment horizon, leveraging advanced analytics and AI across public and private markets.

We are hiring an AI Infrastructure Engineer to join our Investment Operations team. This role designs and builds a secure, auditable analytics platform, including data pipelines, internal OS, document AI ingestion, and cloud infrastructure.

• Design and build data pipelines: architect and implement robust ingestion processes, transform raw data into structured queryable formats.
• Develop document AI ingestion: integrate AI‑driven document processing, leverage OCR and NLP to extract and normalize data.
• Architect platform (Portal, Vault, Engine): design overall architecture, oversee modular portal, governed vault, scalable engine.
• Build analytics & simulation engine: maintain compute environment, run data processing jobs, portfolio risk models, scenario simulations.
• Implement secure cloud infrastructure: evaluate and deploy cloud solutions, design secure, scalable architecture with role‑based access, data lineage, audit logging.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, software engineering, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Experience: 5+ years hands‑on experience in data engineering, software engineering, or AI infrastructure. Preferred experience in private markets, financial services, or investment data.
• Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database design (SQL Server experience required).
  • Expert‑level programming skills in Python (or similar).
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT frameworks.
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud‑native data tools.
  • Ability to integrate unstructured data sources (JSON, APIs, PDFs) using OCR/NLP.
  • Familiarity with modern AI/ML technologies and infrastructure.
  • Architectural thinking for scalable, maintainable systems.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, ensuring data quality/integrity.
• Certifications: Not required, but cloud or data engineering certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus.

• Experience building data or analytics systems for alternative investments, private equity, or family office.
• Background working with financial data vendors and proprietary data sources.
• Familiarity with quantitative finance or investment analytics workflows.
• Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring junior engineers.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools and business intelligence platforms.
• Track record of replacing legacy systems or third‑party platforms with internal solutions.
• Experience with real‑time data processing and streaming architecture.
• Exposure to MLOps or deploying machine learning models in production (preferred).
