Overview
Join to apply for the Programmer Analyst II role at Houston Community College.
Responsibilities- Evaluate user request for new or modified programs, to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system and computer capabilities.
- Collaborate with business analysts and end users to identify current data access requirements and clarify software objectives.
- Formulate plan outlining steps required to develop or alter program, using structured analysis and design to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Architect, build and implement end-user data access requirements.
- Develop/enhance automated processes and applications using appropriate tools.
- Write documentation including flowcharts and diagrams to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
- Troubleshoot code and data errors and run data traces to diagnose and pinpoint problems and rewrite program to correct errors.
- Read manuals, periodicals and technical reports to become better informed of ways to develop programs and solutions to meet user requirements.
- Assist business analyst in developing test cases.
- May provide technical assistance to end-users.
- May monitor performance of program after implementation.
- Provide time accurate estimates on programming tasks.
- Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
- 8 years work related experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
- 5 years combined experience programming and developing applications in a web-based environment, relational database management systems, web development systems, and implementing automated information systems and leading projects from a technical perspective required
