The Principal Architect/Engineer will lead customer projects that span multiple technology architectures, primarily related to data center builds and migrations. The role requires hands‑on technical delivery with the support of dedicated delivery engineers.

• Work with Solutions Architects to validate solution architecture and serve as liaison between customers and Calian
• Collaborate with Practice Managers and Principal Architects within Calian to ensure delivery of complete solutions per the statement of work
• Install and configure Azure and AWS‑designed solutions
• Install and configure network, storage, compute and virtualization designed solutions
• Work directly with technical engineers, practice managers and non‑technical end users
• Meet or exceed customer goals and project objectives within budget
• Explain detailed concepts and technologies to customers in pre‑sales engagements
• Work closely with Account Executives, manufacturer partners and customers to ensure smooth transition from design to implementation and support
• Engage outside vendors to troubleshoot issues and tackle problems
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 7+ years of experience implementing technology solutions that utilize the skills described above
• Experience working directly with technical engineers and practice managers as well as non‑technical end users
• Experience directing multiple technical staff simultaneously while ensuring production goals are met
• Well versed with designing and managing cloud computing environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of data center design, disaster recovery architectures, enterprise storage systems, replication technologies, storage and backup, virtualization, networking (classical Ethernet and SDN)
• Proven track record of running entire IT infrastructure delivery operations for a mid‑size or enterprise corporation with 500+ employees
• Ability to interact confidently with C‑level executives at customer sites
• Experience in white‑boarding concepts and technologies in pre‑sales and post‑sales scenarios
• Working knowledge of storage area networks utilizing fiber and iSCSI
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper‑V virtualization technologies
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
