Piper Companies is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a growing technology organization. The Site Reliability Engineer will support and maintain critical infrastructure across AWS and on-premises environments, with a focus on Kubernetes administration, Linux systems, and platform reliability. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong systems or infrastructure background who is experienced managing existing environments and ensuring operational excellence.
The Site Reliability Engineer is a Contract to Hire opportunity and allows you to work remotely in the United States.
Responsibilities of the Site Reliability Engineer:
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes (K8s) clusters across AWS and on-premises environments.
- Support and optimize Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring stability, performance, and availability.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions utilizing Terraform, Cloud Formation, or similar tools.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support platform reliability, incident response, and ongoing infrastructure improvements.
Requirements of the Site Reliability Engineer:
- 4+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Dev Ops, Systems Administration, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in AWS and/or on-premises environments.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, or similar technologies.
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts; exposure to Ruby-based environments is preferred.
- Experience supporting and maintaining production infrastructure environments; platform design experience is not required.
Compensation for the Site Reliability Engineer:
- $120,000 - $150,000
- Full Comprehensive Benefits:
