Experienced Casualty Underwriter Job Houston area,Texas USA,Insurance

Day-to-day responsibilities include expanding and developing new business opportunities through production & marketing calls with brokers and clients, marketing to distribution channels, prequalifying new business, and utilizing underwriting acumen to select sound casualty risks and form opinions of risk.

Essential Job Functions

Develop and build the Casualty book of business which includes primary, umbrella, and excess liability in the Central territory.

Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships in the Central Region.

Travel up to 20% of the time.

Underwrite and grow the book of surplus and admitted lines business.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.

Requirements

8 plus years’ Casualty underwriting experience.

Experience with general liability, product liability, energy, excess auto, and excess construction.

Strong underwriting acumen.

Existing wholesale and retail broker relationships.

Ability to work within a team environment.

Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communications, and presentation experience.

BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience.
