CLEARANCE: PUBLIC TRUST/SENSITIVE

LOCATION: Houston, TX

SCHEDULE: Available to work mornings, nights, and weekends. Telework/Remote opportunities are not available.

JOB SUMMARY: Our Linguists perform real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, collect and analyze colloquialisms and slang, extract pertinent information, and communicate findings to law enforcement agents. The linguist transcribes source documents and recordings from storage media, including audio cassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
  • Relate all pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project.
  • Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
  • Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
  • Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by supervisor.
  • Produce court‑ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following required format.
  • Use various reference tools created during the project.
  • Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.
  • Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen‑link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment.
  • Maintain daily log of productivity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree AND 3 years’ experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND 5 years’ experience OR High School Diploma AND 7 years of experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of transcription experience in the required language.
  • Subject to government background investigation and eligibility for classified information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
  • Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Must achieve a score of 3 or better on a third‑party Language Assessment in English.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure, fast‑paced environment, effective communication with management and law enforcement personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, meet deadlines, balance multiple tasks, work in a team.
  • Take technical direction and feedback from various sources.
  • Type 45 words per minute.
WORK SCHEDULE

Employees will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Employees supporting this contract are considered essential to the Federal Government and may be asked to work during emergency situations, including inclement weather, natural and man‑made disasters.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS / BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Favorable credit check for all cleared positions.
  • Successfully passing background investigation and drug screen.
  • US Citizen.
  • Must have lived in the U.S. for the past 3 of 5 years, consecutively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Standing/Walking/Mobility:
    Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees.
  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0% - 10% of the time.
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0% - 10% of the time.
  • Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:
    Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
  • Sitting:
    Prolonged and extended periods of time while monitoring live or taped calls; ability to leave desk may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating of calls.
