Gas​/Energy Trading Lawyer

Overview

One Ten Associates are partnering with a global hedge fund that is looking to hire an experienced Gas/Energy Trading Lawyer, to be based in either their Houston, Texas office or New York. Reporting into a senior member of the legal team, you ll provide legal coverage across physical gas and power market transactions.

• Provide legal advice on physical gas and power market transactions, including those related to ISOs, RTOs, and transmission and distribution
• Review and negotiate physical gas and power trading agreements, including contracts for the sale and purchase of natural gas and power, transportation and storage agreements, distribution agreements, and related contracts
• Provide guidance on industry-standard contracts and agreements, such as those developed by ISDA and NAESB
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including those related to FERC, NAESB, and the CFTC
• Assist in regulatory proceedings and trading disputes

• 5-10+ years PQE (approximately)
• Admitted to practice in New York and/or Texas
• Prior legal experience in US gas, energy and power trading in a top-tier law firm, a hedge fund, investment bank specializing in physical commodities trading, or a commodities trading firm
