Intellectual Property / Patent Associate - Biotechnology

We are seeking a mid-level associate to join our thriving patent prosecution practice with a focus on biotechnology. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a team of experienced attorneys and scientists to develop and execute strategic patent protection for our clients' cutting‑edge inventions.

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in all areas of biotechnology, including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, gene editing, and gene therapy.
• Conduct patentability searches, freedom‑to‑operate analyses, and prepare non‑infringement and invalidity opinions.
• Interface with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) throughout the patent prosecution process.
• Manage client relationships and keep them informed of the progress of their patent matters.
• Stay current with developments in patent law and biotechnology.

• Must be 3rd year Associate and beyond
• 1-5 years of experience prosecuting patent applications in a biotechnology practice.
• Ph.D. in a life sciences technology area (biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, etc.) strongly preferred.
• JD degree.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO (patent bar membership).
• Excellent analytical and writing skills.
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
