Building Services Supervisor

MD Anderson Cancer Center – Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) looks for a dedicated and detail-oriented Building Services Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily operations within our housekeeping team. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a commitment to quality, and a passion for maintaining clean, safe, and efficient environments.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 5pm-1:30am

Salary Range

$49,500 – $74,500

Company Overview

Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) ensures all of the hospital’s facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards, while overseeing the construction of new facilities and the modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives. PC&PF is a vital department in delivering world‑class cancer care to patients.

Position Summary

The Supervisor of Environment Services is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily operations of the department, including managing staff, scheduling, budget compliance, and coordinating assigned work activities. The supervisor is integral in the training, coaching, mentoring, hiring, and performance management of staff. The position also assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, monitoring compliance with health and sanitation regulations, and implementing process and quality improvement initiatives.

Primary

Job Responsibilities
  • People: selection, scheduling, monitoring, retention, and assessment of employees. Staff development and mentoring. Ensure all department workers have received adequate training and adhere to all policies and procedures. Liaise with department leadership on coaching, corrective counseling, and staff performance.
  • Leadership: conduct sessions for new hires to provide feedback, orientation, and recommendations as needed. Plan and lead daily team meetings with staff to review daily AIDET goals.
  • Service: submit orders for equipment and supplies according to department guidelines; educate staff on proper usage. Provide regular in‑service training.
  • Strategic Relationships: build relationships with team members, departments, and units to achieve common business goals. Organize workflow, proactively solve problems, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Communication: manage communication with customers in response to concerns and requests.
  • Quality/Safety: conduct daily inspections, maintain cleanliness and safety procedures, train staff on waste removal and hazardous drug handling. Ensure equipment and chemicals are labeled and stored properly; report life‑safety deficiencies. Perform audits on equipment, processes, and outcomes.
  • Finance: monitor supply purchases and inventory processes; assist management with cost control. Develop staffing plans and schedules to meet departmental objectives.
  • Growth and Innovation: develop skills and competencies of team members; foster positive teaching environment. Identify opportunities for self and staff development and take appropriate action.
  • Administrative Duties: monitor staff on FMLA, perform daily Kronos updates and weekly exception reports, complete ePerformance on schedule. Familiarize with Service Level Agreements, departmental policies; implement them through proper responses and quality outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Five years of commercial or industrial housekeeping experience.
  • One year at the Building Attendant II level or one year of supervisory experience in a housekeeping department.
