Our client, a large Houston nonprofit organization, is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Principal Gifts to drive strategy, cultivate high‑net‑worth relationships, and grow a principal‑gift pipeline that fuels their mission across the four‑county region.
This AVP will lead principal gifts strategy, managing a portfolio of donors giving $50K+ with a focus on securing $100K+ principal gifts
. This leader will oversee a growing team and partner closely with senior executives, high‑level volunteers, and community leaders to expand the organization's reach and impact.
- High visibility across Houston’s philanthropic community

- Build and grow a high‑net‑worth donor pipeline; personally cultivate and solicit principal gifts of $100K+.
- Lead a team including a Director of Principal Gifts, Director of Planned Giving, and a Relationship Manager.
- Partner with retired CEOs, executives, and volunteer leaders to open doors and deepen donor engagement.
- Oversee prospect research, wealth analytics, and moves management strategies.
- Collaborate with Advancement, Marketing, and Finance to support donor communications, reporting, and stewardship.
- Represent United Way across Greater Houston through donor meetings, events, and community engagement.
- 10+ years of fundraising experience with a strong record in major or principal gifts
- 5+ years of leadership experience (team management, coaching, accountability)
- Proven success cultivating and closing six‑figure gifts
- Ability to navigate complex donor relationships with political savvy and sound judgment
- Experience working with senior volunteers, executives, and community leaders
- Knowledge of the Houston philanthropic landscape
- CRM experience
- CFRE preferred
Based in Greater Houston with regular travel across Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Waller counties.
