Role Summary

The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non‑metallic components in accordance with engineering specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set machine controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut; or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control programs.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Install and replace machine parts as needed.
  • Confer with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly issues.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $22.46 to $25.47 depending on experience

Qualifications
  • Proven CNC machining experience and/or certification, or current enrollment in a CNC certification program.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Education / Training
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prefer a minimum of two (2) years of machine operation experience and/or completion of an apprenticeship program.
