Job DescriptionThe Manufacturing Engineer determines the most cost-effective ways to use the basic factors of production (people, equipment, materials, information, and energy) to produce a product. The engineer is primarily focused on increasing productivity through process improvements using Lean Manufacturing, SPC (Statistical Process Control), or Six Sigma methods. Additionally, the Process Engineer works with vendors, customers, and Olympic employees to design or improve systems for scheduling, capacity planning, production speed, and project equipment implementation.
Qualifications- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Formal Lean training (Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, etc.) required;
Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt a plus - 2+ years in a similar role within the manufacturing industry; steel experience strongly preferred
- Experience with lasers, press brakes, machining centers, plasma, and welding preferred
- Experience in materials control, production control, and quality control preferred
- Create SOPs and Work Instructions
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with an ability to facilitate trainings and develop documentation
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (notably Excel) and ERP systems
- Strong organizing, planning, and multitasking skills
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and IATF 16949
