Production Operator Trainee – Huntsman Corporation
Location:
Houston Port TEROL, Houston, Texas.
Reporting to:
Production Manager.
The Production Operator Trainee will train under qualified operators to learn and perform all tasks required for the safe and efficient operation of the Houston Port TEROL production facility. The role focuses on developing proficiency in operating, monitoring, and maintaining process equipment while adhering to all operational and EH&S procedures.
Responsibilities- Perform outside operating duties including startup, shutdown, and operation of process equipment for producing quality, on-spec products.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of unit operations, equipment, and operating methods.
- Conduct routine rounds, check and adjust equipment, draw samples, and make operating adjustments based on lab analysis.
- Complete reports, charts, operating data, work orders, and safe work permits.
- Maintain proper housekeeping to ensure a clean and orderly work area.
- Monitor safe handling, storage, identification, and removal of waste streams.
- Complete all required training assignments.
- Participate in site safety and environmental programs.
- Be present at the workplace regularly and work extra hours or overtime if needed to meet production objectives.
- Collaborate with team members and support company goals as assigned.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior operator experience required; training will be provided.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational discipline.
- Ability to follow procedures and work under close supervision.
- Attention to detail with solid documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with diverse perspectives.
- Willingness to learn, complete training assignments, and develop operational capabilities.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work overtime when needed.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, chemical operations, or industrial environments.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with process equipment.
- Prior exposure to safety programs or industrial training.
- Work is performed in an industrial chemical plant environment.
- Requires standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE, including respirators when required.
- Requires ability to work rotating shifts, extended hours, or overtime as needed to support production demands.
