CNC Machinist – Long Term Contract – Houston, TX

Summit Technology Services has a long term contract for a CNC Machinist in Houston, TX.

• Support safety culture and drive a safe-to-start mindset
• Align large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections
• Program CNC lathes, VTL’s, and milling machines
• Read and interpret OEM drawings, REI’s, work instructions, and digital routers
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T) and basic algebra and geometry
• Calculate and set control parameters to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut
• Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 10+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Advanced/expert skill level in part, turn OD's, turn ’s, grinding and burnishing on CNC mill, CNC lathe, NC, Manual mill, Manual lathe, Manual VTL
• Experience operating both manual and CNC machines
• Experience in gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus
• Support Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs – steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas components, aero components, and value rack repairs

Hourly rate – $22.00/hr – $24.00/hr
