Job Details
Base Pay: $18.50 per hour + $1.00 for shift differential
Shift: 4:30 pm – 1:30 am (2nd Shift). Hours may vary. Training may occur on 1st shift (6:00 am – 2:30 pm).
Location: 14031 W. Hardy Rd., Houston, TX 77060.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality‑built parts.
- Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary in a manufacturing environment.
- Sets up and operates machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi‑finished parts.
- Operates computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
- Operates CNC‑controlled machines such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast‑paced production setting, emphasizing safety and quality.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required.
- Marks part numbers, order numbers, and quantities on parts; attaches identification tags as required.
- Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select correct raw material or semi‑finished parts.
- Maintains continuous improvement practices in the work area.
- Provides cost‑saving suggestions to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Utilizes scanning equipment.
- Inspects work visually for defects per Quality Systems.
- Reads tape measure and follows posted schedules.
- Works as a team player with a focus on safety.
- May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by the Team Leader.
- Will work overtime as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum one year of related manufacturing or comparable work experience.
- Minimum one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment, and nail guns.
- Able to use measuring gauges and read tape measure.
- Forklift experience a plus; must be trainable.
- Crane experience a plus; must be trainable.
- Flexible with overtime and weekends when needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously.
