Head of Operations
Houston, TX
Our client, a global manufacturer of nutraceuticals, is seeking a Head of Operations who will be responsible for the operational performance of the manufacturing plant, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant and cost-effective production of high-quality products. Housed in the manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, this role manages leaders of production, warehouse, quality execution and continuous improvement, while ensuring regulation compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute operational strategies to meet business goals while overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring optimal performance across production processes.
- Lead strategic growth and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Own the operations budget, cost control and margin improvement initiatives.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining product quality, minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards such as GMP, HACCP, FDA, MSC, SQF.
- Collaborate with the QA/QC teams to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Partner with Planning & Logistics team to manage warehousing, distribution and dispatch functions efficiently.
- Enforce workplace safety protocols and ensure regulation compliance.
- Lead, mentor and develop cross-functional operational teams while building a high-performance culture focusing on accountability, communication and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree Food Technology, Engineering, Operations Management or related field required;
Master’s degree in related field is preferred. - 10+ years in food, nutraceuticals or pharmaceuticals manufacturing operations.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP and food industry regulatory standards.
- Proven experience in managing large teams and complex production systems.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills with ability to act effectively to resolve problems.
- Results-driven leader with a focus on continuous improvement.
