Manual Machinist

LK Jordan is hiring an experienced Manual Machinist to perform precision machining of pump components, including rings, bushings, sleeves, and shafts. Candidates must be able to maintain .001 T.I.R. tolerances on finished products.

Responsibilities:

• Review samples, drawings, and instructions to understand machining specifications.
• Plan the sequence of machining operations to complete each job accurately and efficiently.
• Measure and mark materials for cutting or shaping.
• Select appropriate machines and tooling, including lathes, and position or load materials.
• Set machine speeds, feeds, and batch quantities; program equipment as applicable.
• Monitor machining operations and adjust feeds and operating conditions to address issues.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications and separate defective components.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a machinist, with proficiency operating manual equipment.
• Experience using manual, semi-automated, or automated machines, including lathes and grinders.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Knowledge of metal properties and other machining materials.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the physical demands of shop work.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational training or completion of an apprenticeship is a plus.
