Bilingual Community Engagement Specialist (Temporary/Seasonal) - Neighborhood Tax Center (834)

As one of the nation’s largest Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs, Baker Ripley Neighborhood Tax Centers (NTC) builds community stability through its free quality tax preparation and by connecting families to resources. Each year, NTC prepares over 36,000 tax returns for low‑income families at more than 20 locations in high‑need neighborhoods across the Greater Houston Area. We seek candidates who share our passion for helping others and enjoy working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

The Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for engaging community partners, school districts, faith‑based organizations, and other partners to promote Baker Ripley Neighborhood Tax Centers’ services and volunteer opportunities among Harris County residents and community partners.

Expected Positive Outcomes
  • Actively develop community relations and attend outreach opportunities, such as community events, speaking engagements, presentations, fairs, etc.
  • Help develop and update the information to share at outreach events.
  • Support volunteer outreach efforts.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and nurture relations with community organizations.
  • Attend outreach events and engage with community members, promoting our services and answering basic questions.
  • Prepare the information and materials needed for outreach events.
  • Keep track of all outreach events and community collaborations developed.
  • Document outreach events and experiences (using cellphone photos and videos).
  • Manage the inventory of outreach/marketing materials (flyers, handouts, signage, etc.).
  • Learn new/updated information on our topics to share as needed.
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed.
