Be among the first 25 applicants.
The Houston Tool Bank serves community-based organizations by providing tools, equipment, and expertise to empower their most ambitious goals. The Tool School training program follows the same unique model as the nonprofit on a whole. Houston Community Toolbank provides direct services to other nonprofits and creates partnerships that aid other organizations in reaching their mission. Through partnerships, Tool School leads training programs for opportunity or under-resourced youth, adults, and the elderly, including students at Title 1 schools;
youth, young adults, and adults from low‑income households participating in workforce development programs; individuals with physical, intellectual, and/or developmental disabilities; unemployed or underemployed workers or workers in positions with low wages; people experiencing homelessness; individuals who are formerly incarcerated participating in second‑chance programs; senior adults living on fixed incomes. The Houston Tool Bank’s tool training program, Tool School, specifically targets under‑resourced communities, opportunity youth, and the unemployed or under‑employed, offering hands‑on training in the proper use and maintenance of equipment across various industries, including carpentry, construction, and maintenance.
The program is conducted in partnership with schools, education programs, workforce development programs, and more. Houston Community Toolbank collaborates with partners serving community members who are under‑resourced and underserved to add value to their programs by focusing on life and independence skills development through hand and power tool training.
