Overview
TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our team. This role provides postoperative care to surgical patients, ensuring safe recovery and optimal outcomes as patients transition from surgery to discharge or inpatient care.
Responsibilities- Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia in the PACU, including vital signs, airway management, pain control, and neurologic status.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered, including pain management and emergency interventions if needed.
- Collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth postoperative transitions.
- Provide patient and family education regarding postoperative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as appropriate.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized PACU environment in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Current, active RN license in the state of Texas required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of PACU or critical care nursing experience preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
