Role Synopsis

The QC Senior functions as a lead within the Manufacturing Quality Control team, responsible for executing high-level inspections while also overseeing the daily coordination of quality activities across work centers. The individual serves as the primary point of contact for inspections related matters on the shop floor and within the lab, ensuring alignment between production priorities and quality requirements.

The QC Senior participates in daily production meetings and cross functional call to communicate inspection readiness, status of work in progress and any risks or delays related to quality. They are responsible for distributing inspection tasks among the QC team based on skill level, workload and delivery commitments, while ensuring consistent adherence to procedures and documentation standards.

This role maintains a strong focus on data integrity, ensuring that all inspection records are complete, accurate and traceable. The QC Senior actively mentors and trains junior inspectors, both formally and informally, and leads internal training efforts related to dimensional inspection, quality documentation, and compliance practices. Collaboration with Engineering, Production, Warehouse and Assembly and Test is a regular part of the role, particularly when addressing non-conformances, clarifying technical requirements, or implementing process improvements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform advance dimensional inspections of machined parts and assemblies, ensuring conformance to drawings, specifications, and ACT's.
  • Distribute daily inspection workload based on production schedule, team capability, and priority deadlines.
  • Represent Quality Control in daily production calls, providing updates on inspection status, issues and resource needs.
  • Review and approve inspection records, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across all documentation.
  • Train and mentor inspectors in dimensional measurement, documentation practices, QMS compliance, and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Lead both hands-on and formal training sessions for new hires and existing staff, reinforcing consistent inspection standards and best practices.
  • Serve as liaison between Quality, Production, Engineering, Warehouse and Assembly and Test to resolve inspection discrepancies and technical questions.
  • Ensure traceability of materials and verification of material certifications and test report during inspection.
  • Operate and maintain inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, hardness testers, profilometer and both programable and manual CMM.
  • Zeiss DCC CMM experience with Calypso software is preferred and utilized where applicable.
