Position: Research Technician I

Summary

Seeking self‑motivated individual to work in a developmental glial biology lab of Dr. Hyun Kyoung Lee, Principal Investigator at the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, US.
HK Lee laboratory will focus on identifying novel molecular signaling pathways and regulation in glial cell development. Based on these developmental studies, the lab will translate developmentally derived findings to associated disorders to develop therapeutic interventions. To achieve this goal, the lab will utilize molecular and cellular approaches in conjunction with classic genetic manipulation in mouse models and an array of CNS injury models, which will ultimately be applied to human neurological disorders.

Job Duties
  • Performs mouse behavior assays.
  • Works on tissue analysis that includes harvesting, sectioning, immunostaining.
  • Analyzes data that includes imaging and quantification.
  • Conducts routine laboratory experiments (genotype, DNA, RNA, protein preparations).
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with mice.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and organizational skills are required, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated.
Work Authorization Requirement
