Postdoctoral Fellow – Immunology

The Hu Lab in the Department of Immunology seeks to understand how the tumor microenvironment is spatially organized, what cell‑cell interactions drive the emergence of spatial heterogeneity, and how this impacts responses to immunotherapy. We are looking for a bold, creative candidate to elucidate the fibroblast wiring diagram across tissues and diseases and to build a first‑of‑its‑kind, systems‑level model of fibroblast behavior.

• Lead the proposed project focused on fibroblasts, designing and planning key experiments, troubleshooting, and pursuing new avenues of inquiry, including collaborations.
• Develop proficiency in mouse models of cancer, tissue regeneration, and fibrosis, gaining expertise in fibroblast biology and tumor immunology.
• Apply rigorous statistical tests and data visualization techniques; present and communicate research findings both internally and at scientific conferences.
• Perform single‑cell and single‑nuclei sequencing of fibroblasts and immune cells in the tumor, including data processing, integration, clustering, pathway analysis, and differential gene expression analysis.
• Prepare viral vectors for in‑vivo CRISPR‑based approaches targeting transgenes and sgRNA.
• Master microscopy techniques such as in‑situ hybridization, multiplexed immunofluorescence, and related data analysis.
• Write manuscripts or abstracts under supervision of the PI and assist in grant proposals or review articles as required.
• Mentor and train lab staff assigned to support the project.

• Prior experience with high‑dimensional single‑cell and/or spatial transcriptomics data analysis and data visualization software is essential.
• PhD or equivalent in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology is required.
• Experience in flow cytometry, molecular biology, and tissue culture is heavily preferred.
• Willingness to work with live mice is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, including precise experimental documentation, are mandatory.
• Demonstrated proficiency in scientific writing with at least one first‑author manuscript.

• Full‑time postdoctoral position with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000, depending on post‑doctoral experience.
