The Ira lab is seeking a Research Technician II to oversee general lab ordering, organization, and perform experiments related to the lab's exploration of DNA recombination processes. This position has been vacant since the departure of our previous research technician and a replacement is needed as soon as possible to complete the aims of the grant. The research goal of the lab is to understand the molecular mechanisms of homologous recombination and the role different proteins play during recombination.
The main experimental model is recombination induced by a single double‑strand‑break. This assay allows us to follow the kinetics of all steps in recombination at the level of DNA strand exchange and protein‑DNA interaction. The results will provide insight into the molecular basis of genetic instability observed in cancer.
- Order and maintain inventory of lab supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Document results of experiments.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field; four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.

- Experience with yeast cells, constructing mutant strains, and using CRISPR/Cas9 methods to induce point mutations.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and sterilization techniques.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
