Research Assistant II position is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children’s Cancer Center. This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team of laboratory and clinical investigators developing novel forms of cancer immunotherapy. The Research Assistant II will assist with flow cytometry immunophenotyping and functional analyses of immune effector cells. We offer outstanding state-of-the-art, recently expanded laboratory facilities and a highly interactive work environment.

The position will act as a senior member of the AICT lab staff, providing mentorship to lower-level staff and students. The position will be relied upon to proactively and independently forward current and future research projects through significant lab experience and subject matter expertise (e.g. translational research techniques, genetic engineering, and oncological/immunological disease manifestations).

• Designs, plans, and performs experiments within the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy.
• Processes peripheral blood, isolates mononuclear cells and specific cell subsets.
• Performs of numeric expansion of lymphocytes in culture.
• Performs retroviral and lentiviral transduction of cultured cells, including primary T cells.
• Performs immunoflourescent staining and runs and runs flow cytometry analysis.
• Analyses flow cytometry data using Flow Jo and DIVA software.
• Performs statistical analysis of experimental data on Excel or Graph Pad.
• Performs nucleofections and CRISPR knock ins in primary T cells.
• Design new DNA constructs, using Snap Gene or similar software.
• Generate tumor organoids and monitor treatment responses vial Incucyte live imaging.
• Documents results of experiments and reports to principle investigators.
• Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
• Defines problems in performed experiments and develops troubleshooting plan.
• Contribute to the maintenance of lab equipment including a flow cytometer, nucleofector, nanopore sequencer.
• Perform other job related duties.

• Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
• Three years of relevant experience.

• Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
• Three years of experience in molecular biology and T cell immunology.
